G’day friends!
Short and sharp update today, and it’s not the most cheerful one after both the Eagles and Dockers suffered massive blows to their finals hopes with one game remaining in the AFLW season.
Also, keep an eye on your inbox later this week for an announcement around an exciting AFL Draft live event.
Let’s get stuck in.

WEST COAST AFLW
Swans 12.6 (78) def Eagles 8.8 (56)
Finals are officially off the table despite the Eagles putting in one of their best performances of the season. The Swans, and Chloe Molloy (five goals) in particular, were just too good.
With Ella Roberts well held by a tag, Lucia Painter took a leap in the midfield. She led the charge in a midfield group which was on top for three quarters before the dam wall burst. Painter had 16 disposals and five clearances. She’s showed class across multiple lines in her two seasons of AFLW footy and should make a huge step up going into season three.
Bella Lewis was pretty blunt post-game. Defence and contest hasn’t been consistent enough.
FREMANTLE AFLW
Cats 9.10 (64) def Dockers 5.4 (34)
Finals aren’t off the table for Freo yet, but it would take a miracle. Their percentage took a hammering against the 10-straight Cats. With one game to go, the Dockers sit 10th, one game behind eighth-placed Hawthorn. Freo need to beat Sydney, the Eagles (13th) need to beat the Hawks and the Demons (third) need to beat the Crows (ninth).
Despite a tough day, Emma O’Driscoll made a seamless return from injury. Finished with 19 disposals and nine intercepts.
Despite a better season, games like these still pop up to remind us how far off the competition’s pace-setters that Fremantle still are. This off-season will be very interesting.
That’s us all caught up.
